Caterpillar is so excited about the new song “Caterpillar”, and about being discovered by Slushbox that we’re featuring basically the adventures of Caterpillar for your discovery.

And today’s excursion is to Viento Y Agua Coffeehouse.

Caterpillar found quite a specimen bush (see lower right photo) on the way, while taking time to stop for many crawl about detours while journeying to Viento Y Agua.  “I wonder how these buds will bloom?” Caterpillar said.  Slushboxers Sharon and Mark were in passionate conversation about their upcoming garden concert event.  Finally inside the cafe, Caterpillar poked around, taking sips from Sharon’s almond milk latte, and Mark’s espresso.  Caterpillar admired the skillful baristas joyfully fulfilling each order and even singing songs and customers names while they made magic food and drinks.

Caterpillar observed the works by famous artists Paul Hogue and Rick Frausto, on the very colorful walls, and loved the music and nature depicted.  “What creative creatures, those gentlemen,” Caterpillar thought.  The in-house acoustic guitar was particularly of interest with its animal liberation messages (see center photo).

Love was the feeling as Caterpillar listened to stories about new puppies and old friends, Alyssandra Nighswonger’s 10 hour non-stop open mic epic event, and how Sharon and Mark actually met drummer Terry Frost at Viento Y Agua and did a first show there.  The famous Slushbox television came to mind, and Gazettes article by Steve Irsay (photos some other time perhaps).  Customers express love as evidenced by handwritten love letters on the wall (see upper right photo).  “Wow, this place is extraordinary” mused Caterpillar.

This excursion demonstrated that sometimes what matters is both the journey…..

and the destination.

Announcing “Goats on Parade”, Fri. Feb. 20th, 4-8pm

Goats on Parade 2We are so happy to be bringing this new event to the community, celebrating both MardiGras (Feb 17) and ChineseNewYear of the Goat/Sheep/Ram (Feb 19).  Envisioned as an evening to get yo’ goat on, and sheep too, we will have a goatee station for all to partake and adorn their chins,  goat tales, and maybe tails too; Maha & Company dancers, artists, and live rock and blues music by Clearlake Professionals, Steven Velvet McNeil, and Slushbox, and other hoofin’ around to be announced.

According to http://www.chinese-astrology.co.uk/goat.html,  “Goat people are very romantic sensitive, sweet and darling. In relationship, they could be sometimes a little bit bossy and lazy, but with their gentle and caring nature, it will be hard to resist Goat people.”   Adding to this spirit the revelry of the MardiGras celebration, this will be a playful evening for all. Volunteers are needed to facilitate appropriate goat activities, and for the well-being and contentment of all hoofed participants. The event happens FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20th, 4-8pm at the Cultural Alliance of Long Beach, “CALB“, Shoreline Village location which is above the Shenanigan’s Pub, at 423 Shoreline Village Drive (upstairs), Long Beach, CA  90802.
